Aight, so I went and saw Precious this weekend! Of course, not as good as the book, but a nice change from the regular shit that's been in theater's (with the exception of This Is It, of course). The story may be hard to swallow, because it deals with social taboo's like incestuous rape and severe child and infant abuse. Within these subjects, though, is the underlying theme of perserverence, love, and, just my observation, the AMAZING strength that can be found in women, young and old.
Even more refreshing was the amount of lesbians/queers (chuckle) in the movie! Paula Patton is the main-character, Precious', teacher, and her and her girl make a cute ass couple. But who REALLY had my attention was "Jermaine" played by Amina Robinson!!! Mm. mm. mm. Maybe because we DO NOT see NEARLY enough butch/ag/stud/queer/trans characters in film, I just gravitate and fixate my desires on whatever I can get. Who knows, WHO CARES?!?!?!
