Today started out cool. I met a friend for lunch, and got some work done. Then, I get a phone call a little while ago...it's one of those calls you want to get, but you hope you're getting it for the right time/purpose/reasons. I am entirely self-employed, so calls from clients are ALWAYS welcome, EXCEPT when I am out of town, as is the present case. I don't fly home for just a few more days...so I checked the voicemail they left, hoping it was for a job after my return-flight, but of course, shit doesn't always work out so perfectly. I cursed the message after hearing the date that they need me for and the rate (cause it's lovely), but I pulled it together, promptly returned the call, and offered my regret for not being able to make it...
I was legitimately annoyed, until I reminded myself that there will be another call, and I can make more calls come my way, because I been on my grind, handling business, and creating good connections. I also reminded myself that this client called after our last job together, so I'm clearly on their radar, which is always good! They'll definitely call again. I'm also OK without the extra money. Now of course, it woulda put a smile on my face and watching the bank balance grow is always nice, but the important things are handled, and I am a hustler, so one job doesn't make or break me. Basically, no matter what unfortunate situations we find ourselves in, we have to remember that we make stuff happen for ourselves. We can make the job offers come with persistence and hard work. So keep it moving and be positive, cause if we made it happen once, we'll make it happen again...
